Eclipsed by Glory
“But you, O Lord, are a shield around me; you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.”
- Psalms 3:3 NLT
Eclipsed by Glory is a series of oil paintings exploring the dynamic relationship between God and man. God’s glory is often described as a cloud or mist, as covering or concealing. In fact “the mist” describes the very conditions in which man was created (Genesis 2:6-7). When Adam and Eve sinned and fell from glory, they immediately reached for fig leaves to cover their nakedness. The human tendency is to cover up in shame - hiding behind lies, reputation, relationships, empty achievements, and masquerades of our true self - when God desires to wrap us in His glory. But where else can we find the freedom and safety to be, than in the presence of He who made us?
